There aren't many American singers amuck of a fine country twang wHO are actually from the Deep South, and world Health Organization would specifically list Australian Nick Cave as the main influence on their work. But such is the case for the talented Paula Frazer, world Health Organization far from organism whatsoever sort of clone also brings the same broad orbit of influences to bear on her own work, from punk rocker and blues to cabaret and gospel, for her have hitting musical visions. Raised in both Georgia and Arkansas, her musical influences readily came from both parents. She american ginseng in the church service choir, where her father was a sermoniser, spell her mother taught her pianissimo and introduced her to medicine from George Gershwin and Billie Holiday to the modern-day music of the 1960s and 1970s. After various youthful experiences in local bands, Frazer touched in 1981 to San Francisco to seek her wider luck.

Patch ab initio bopping just about in a variety of bands, including a stint with the undeservedly dark Frightwig, Frazer's big break came with Tarnation, a band that avowedly was fundamentally Frazer through and through. The initial lineup recorded 2 albums, approach to wider attention thanks to the splendid Gentle Creatures, appearing in 1995. Earlier that twelvemonth, however, the other trine members foregone to engage their have work, going away Frazer to piece an initial touring lineup that, afterward a farther change on sea bass, became the social unit that recorded the band's utmost album, Mirador. After various touring appearances, including dates in Europe with her hero, Cave & the Bad Seeds, Frazer launch herself once over again without a band.

Having already made a name for herself on former projects, most notably a hit collaboration with the Anglo-Indian act Cornershop on their When I Was Born for the 7th Time record album, Frazer decided in 1998 to sink the Tarnation call in favor of her have. She over again assembled a backing mathematical group drawn on Bay Area musicians, with her elysian choices organism vocalist/keyboardist Patrick Main, Sister Double Happiness veteran soldier Jeff Palmer on bass, and Oranger member Jim Lindsay handling the drums. The outcome, with the further assistance of drummer Matt Torrey and a miscellany of guests, was Indoor Universe, appearing in 2001 -- her solo "debut," simply more than accurately the next in a series of fantabulous releases. 2003's retrospective A Place Where I Know gathered four-track versions of songs from both her Tarnation and solo albums; deuce years later she returned with a young record album, Forget the Sad Things Behind. 2007's Straight off It's Time was credited to Paula Frazer and Tarnation, and continued in the same mineral vein as her solo work and outturn with the radical.

McConaughey Gone Wild In Nicaragua

Matthew McConaughey's wild ways got out of hand during a surfing trip to Nicaragua last week (06-07Jun08) when the movie star had to be carried out of a bar after drunkenly hitting on every woman in sight. The Sahara star, who is expecting his first child with Brazilian model girlfriend Camila Alves later this summer , stunned locals at The Iguana bar in San Juan Del Sur with his behaviour. And, after chatting up beautiful women during a drunken spree on Friday night , the actor returned on Saturday for another hellraising night. One local who snapped photos of wild McConaughey in action says, "He was so drunk he did stuff only a drunk guy would do. He was acting like an 18 year old." After reportedly passing out in a ditch on Friday, McConaughey went one better the following night, according to fellow revellers, and had to be carried out of the bar. One local, called Amber, claims McConaughey drunkenly chatted her and a roommate up, but lost his cool when he misplaced his flip-flops. She tells WENN, "He stood on a table, screaming in drunk, broken Spanish, 'I've lost my flip-flops.'" Then, when he realised his antics were being filmed, he ripped the camera out of one girl's hands and attempted to break it. When he failed, he reportedly grabbed the girl taking the pictures and started dancing with her. She says, "He was dancing with a ton of women but he was too drunk to go home with any of them." McConaughey told locals he was in Nicaragua alone after cutting short a trip to Costa Rica. One local explains, "He was on his own, which impressed everyone at first, but the guy drank everything and by the time he was carried out on Saturday night, everyone had lost respect for him."

Part of the early-'70s British hard rock candy scene, Spooky Tooth grew out of the bluesy VIPs and prog-rock group Art and consisted of singer Mike Harrison, keyboardist/vocalist Gary Wright, guitarist Luther Grosvenor, bassist Greg Ridley, and drummer Mike Kellie. The group built a following through myriad gigs and recorded its debut album, It's All About, in 1968. Skittish Two became their most successful record album in the U.S.; subsequently, Ridley left field to join Humble Pie and was replaced by Andy Leigh. Following 1970's Ceremony, Wright left field to grade Wonderwheel, while Grosvenor took the name Ariel Bender and coupled Stealers Wheel and by and by Mott the Hoople. The addition of threesome members of Joe Cocker's Grease Band -- Henry McCullough, Chris Stainton, and Alan Spenner -- was not enough to observe the band rudderless, and Spooky Tooth broke up after The Last Puff in 1970. A reunion in 1973 with Wright, Harrison, and future Foreigner guitarist Mick Jones produced respective LPs, including the moderately successful You Broke My Heart So I Busted Your Jaw, merely force shifts and a lack of first-rate material terminated the see in 1974. Wright went on to a successful solo career, marking pop hits like "Dream Weaver," and Mike Kellie by and by joined the punk-pop Only Ones.
